Howdy!

For those interested in Japanese manga ...

There is a manga entitled "Hikaru no Go" that is quite interesting. I believe a few years ago, the Nihon Kiin (Japanese Go Association) was involved in starting "Hikaru no Go". The purpose was to spark interest in Go amongst the youngsters in Japan. It is published weekly in "Jump"; plus, there has also been regular manga publications and even anime movie(s?). Apparently, these efforts have been fruitful.

Anyway, 8 volumes of translated (into English) "Hikaru no Go" can be found online at: http://www.toriyamaworld.com/hikago/

A thread in rec.games.go has other links for much more of "Hikaru no Go": http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&threadm=3c6b5038%240%2426604%24afc38c87%40news.optusnet.com.au&prev=/groups%3Fnum%3D25%26hl%3Den%26group%3Drec.games.go%26start%3D25

I like it! A rather entertaining manga which has eaten up most of this afternoon, when I should have been doing other things...

(...and I have never even played Go against a real person!)

Regards,

Chris.

I'll look forward to being beaten^H^H^H^H taught how to play Go properly by you one day! I'm currently experimenting with a few online Go servers (I've played two absolute beginners on Yahoo! and I've recently got an account for the IGS to check out...)

Regards,

Chris.

Chris,

Let me know when you're ready for a game! I enjoy playing anyone and everyone. Handicaps really work well in Go, so relative differences in strength often become a non-issue.

Apologies for not replying sooner, I usually don't visit the forum over weekends.

Enjoy!
