Seibukan Jujutsu

Hi all , i would like information towards this jujutsu style (seibukan) and everyone's opinions towards it and if it involves japanese weapon training too , thanx :karatekid

BTW, please follow the rules in regards to signing with your name, not initials. This rule was made clear to you during the registration process...

Oh, the Parulski group. I couldn't remember which one this was.

I'm interested in this because someone named Julio Toribio just went to Japan and managed to receive authorization from Kondo sensei to form a Daito ryu study group in Northern California. His credentials show him as an instructor of "Seibukan jujutsu". I wonder if this is the same group?

I had never hear of Seibukan jujutsu until last month. These must be different systems, because I believe Mr. Toribio indicates on his website that he created Seibukan based on his own experience and knowledge in the martial arts.

This Parulski group sounds completely different, as there are references to some Japanese master, ancient lineage, etc, etc.

I was confused at first, too (maybe I still am :( ).

Hi all,

Having been to seminars with Julio and training with some Seibukan boys around here I have found them to be a fun bunch. There is a little less intensity than I am used to but they have fun. Julio is a good instructor and a fun guy. I question some of their techniques, but others are quite good. They are a warm and welcoming group so feel free to drop in and play.

Perhaps asked and answered, but here goes anyway. FYI, I'm in no way affiliated with the man or his dojo, but since it's local for me I might be able to add a thing or two to the discussion.

The Seibukan Jujutsu of Julio Toribio Sensei is not affiliated AFAIK with Parulski; Toribio was Menkyo Kaiden Shihan Sandaikichu in Hakkoryu, and broke with the Hombu in the early 90s to form Seibukan Jujutsu. Also AFAIK, the system draws upon his experience in other arts (recently heard he's involved with Bujinkan in some way).

Word also is that he used to be connected with Aikido of Monterey (of Stanley Pranin fame), and that he was involved some time ago with developing the local Model Mugging program with Danielle Evans Molles Sensei.

I am personally familiar with Julio Toribio and can only say good things about him. I used to visit his dojo ocassionally while dojo hopping thru California between visiting Takamura Sensei up in San Jose and Don Angier down in Long Beach. Very nice and competent guy.

Yes he was Sandaikichu in Hakko ryu jujutsu before breaking with that organization. Yes, he did train at Aikido of Monterey with Danielle Evans Molles Sensei and yes, he was instrumental in the development of the Model Mugging program.

I have heard that he has some sort of connection to Massaki Hatsumi and the Bujinkan but this has apparantly happened since I last visited him.

If you have a chance to visit him or his dojo I recommend it.

I recently obtained the level of Shodan in Seibukan Jujutsu in Puerto Rico under Sensei Adalberto Rosario 7th Dan.

It is a well rounded style of self defense with also includes weapons (Jo, bokken, sword and tanto, amongst others). I have also studied another style of jujitsu, but this is one very rich in principles and philosophy. The head master and my sensei, both have a unique teaching style rarely seen in other dojos, you feel welcome since day one.

I would recommend this jujutsu to anyone who really wants to learn martial arts in depth.
