Can anyone give any advice on gripping the Jo properly? Thank you.

what school of jojutsu are you studying? do you have a regular teacher? if not, from what source are you learning? you should also bear in mind that the jo is held in a variety of ways; which specific grip are you thinking of? or are you asking for some kind of general guidelines? at the risk of sounding cagey, your question is one best answered by a qualified teacher who is giving you instruction. i could tell you what my teacher has told me, but i doubt that i could explain it properly in text, and furthermore i'd be uncomfortable offering instruction to someone even in person because i'm not qualified to teach jo. if you haven't had any luck tracking down a qualified teacher in your area, perhaps someone here could offer you advice on that front. as with any martial art, really, you need a teacher first.
