Looking for a package which can allow me to write in Japanese, dictionary and translator for English windows. I get a lot of mail in Japanese and need a quick and dirty way to find out if its worth persuing. At the moment I've got ATLAS but it doesn't allow you to write your own which is eventually where I want to go.

Suggestions are welcome.

Some good online dictionaries are found here. (http://www.japanesetutor.com/dictionary.htm)

Sorry it wasn't specifically addressing your question though...

No translator here, but Japanese Word Processor CE (JWPce) is the one I use. It's a text editor with a built-in dictionary, kanji lookup, and more. It uses dictionaries in EDICT format, which means you can add specific ones that are available. It also supports user dictionary and kanji conversion.

Just make sure you get the right one (it's available for multiple operating systems, including handhelds).

Hope this helps,

NJStar - Japanese WP (http://www.njstar.com/njstar/japanese/)

This should be of some help and partly covers what you need.
