I wanted to inquire about the connection between Yamaue sensei and
Shorinji Kempo? He stated a long time connection to the art, any
idea about his history. He claims to be the grandson of daito ryu master takuma hisa but the family has denied this. Thank you.

Gassho.
Hi Erin.

I have actually met Yamaue-sensei once a couple of years ago. He seems to be a nice man when I talked to him.
Concerning his claims about Daito ryu and Takuma Hisa I have no idea.

As for Shorinji Kempo he practiced that in Japan when he was younger, if I remember correctly it was during his time in university. As far as I know he reached 4th dan in Shorinji Kempo and in the early 70s he moved to Denmark where he still lives.
There is some info on his home page: www.yamaue.com
You will find some of his personal history here (http://home6.inet.tele.dk/yamaue/budo/frames_d/frames/history.htm).

He has established his own Aikijutsu called "Yamaue Ryu Aiki Jutsu" and also a style called "Nord Shaolin Kung Fu" (Nord is Danish/Swedish for North). There is one club in Sweden that practice this system, they have a home page here: www.shaolin-kungfu.nu (the intro of this page definitely show Shorinji Kempo techniques) you find some more info on another page: http://home.bip.net/rhsweden/

As for the North Shaolin Kung-fu it have quite a few similarities with Shorinjikempo, for instance they use dogi, do gassho rei and use Japanese names for the techniques. At least some of the names of techniques are identical to what we use in Shorinji Kempo.
You can find some pictures from the club in Sweden (Malmö Nord Shaolin Kung-fu) here (http://kungfu.ath.cx/).

For some movies to compare, you can have a look at this:

Yamaue demonstrating ki: (real streaming) (http://66.197.160.250/film/qi.ram) (real down load) (http://66.197.160.250/film/qi.rm) 11MB
Yamaue discussing wrist techniques with another teacher (Jujutsu?) (real streaming) (http://66.197.160.250/film/handled.ram) (real down load) (http://66.197.160.250/film/handled.rm) 2,5MB
Some clips from the Swedish club (Malmö Nord Shaolin Kung-fu):
From a 4th kyu examination (real streaming) (http://66.197.160.250/film/4kyu.ram) (real down load) (http://66.197.160.250/film/4kyu.rm) 9,8MB (note that they do Giwaken 1 and Tenchiken 1 in this)
Some sort of kumi embu (real streaming) (http://66.197.160.250/film/embo1.ram) (real down load) (http://66.197.160.250/film/embo1.rm) 2,2MB
I also have a clip (saved in my computer, 4MB) with one of the instructors demonstrating Tsubame gaeshi and Kusshin zuki, but that seems to not be up at this site anymore.

So Erin for your question, it is obvious that Yamue-sensei have practiced Shorinjikempo but it was a long time ago he split with our organisation.
How come you ask this question? In what way have you found out about Yamaue and that he had some connections to Shorinji Kempo?
