Hi,
Does anybody have any experience with Hanwei Shuriken? Are they any good?

Thanks,

Hello,

I can't find the old shuriken thread, so I thought I'd offer an update here on the custom shuriken I've been working (slowly) on.

The machinest that I've been to has been having problems working strictly from my semi-technical rendering. He really feels that I need to provide him with a sample of what I want, so I'm going to have to talk to some smiths in Japan and see if someone will make me some. So, it will take a little more time, but the wheels are still turning.

As far as the Hanwei shuriken, they are pretty well balanced and have nice weight to them. But, having a wide "torpedo" style tip, they do not stick very well in most materials. They either bounce out of harder materials, or, the wide tip allows the tip to be wedged out of softer targets should the throw not be almost perfectly straight. Fun to have, but (for the money), they are not all the great for practice.
