Has anyone ever entered (or thought of entering) this? I would be interested in hearing your comments or experiences in translating literature, for this or other purposes.

I was going to enter the first one back in, what, 1996 or 1997, but I dropped out of grad school and just lost interest. I am working on translating some of the entries now, but it has been a long time since I did any translating - I am really out of practice.

I used to think that this was what I wanted to do for a career - until I got married and realized that money does not, in fact, grow on trees and the average pay for a translator of literature is less attractive to a married gent than a single student. I would still like to continue as a hobby, but it is pretty time intensive, and time is something of which I am in short supply.

Anyway, thoughts, impressions, anecdotes or rambling on topic are all appreciated.

Take care.
