Yamane/Yamanni?

Something I just learned (which may be common knowledge)I would like to pass on.

Yamane (Yah Mah Neh) Ryu is the pronunciation on mainland Japan.
Yamanni (Yah Mah Nee) Ryu is the Pron. in Okinawa (Hogen dialect?)

I always wondered why there are two spellings and I finally asked about it;) .
