Hi!

I'm lookin for a decently priced Iaigi and Hakama, I've heard that the stuff from kendo-shop is of OK quality at least if you keep theyre incredible prices in mind. But as far as I se, they only have kendo stuff.. I guess the kendo gis arent padded at this price, or what?

Are there any other places where i can get a Hakama and Iaidogi for under $100?

Thanks

e-bogu currently has iaido gi and tetron hakama for $100
(www.e-bogu.com). You could also check out www.bogu-bag.com, Robert doesn't have a lot on his site but he has access to the whole Koei catalog for reasonable prices plus other suppliers, just e-mail him for what you want. Tozando's got a sale on right now, don't know the prices but the website is www.tozando.pair.com.

Thank you, I'll look into e-bogu and bogubag, but I've lookad at Tozando and they're quite expensive (~$200 for GI and Hakama), although their Iaito seem very reasonably priced..

Check out www.budogu.com. It's a small company run by budoka for budoka. Tell Peter I said 'Howdy!'

Im sure the quality is very good and all, but an Iaigi and a hakama will cost almost $200 there too..

Thats close to double the amount it will cost from e-bogu, so I think I'm gonna order from there..

You can try at Sei Do Kai Supplies (http://sdksupplies.netfirms.com/) . At http://sdksupplies.netfirms.com/cat_judogi.htm you can see a cheap hakama, and at http://sdksupplies.netfirms.com/cat_uniform.htm, you can buy a hakama and uwagi for $120-130, depending on your height.

Hope this helps,

I was going to order from e-bogu, but they only have the tetron hakama up to size 27, which is one size too small :(

Does anyone have any experience with Eurobogu (http://www.eurobogu.net) or NineCircles (http://www.ninecircles.co.uk/)? They seem to have some ok prices..

Hi Robin,

'Nine Circles' is well recommended. The guy who runs it - Quentin - is very knowledgable and a nice guy to deal with. We buy most of our iai gear from there.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Scott

Thanks Scott, I think I'm going to order from there.. Do you have any experience with their hakama, they have two models.

IH-1 Hakama - Polyester/Rayon in Black or White

IH-2 Hakama - Deluxe Polyester/Rayon in Black

Do you have practical experince with them, is there much difference?

They also have two "normal" Iai Obi,

IO-1 Iai Obi DESCRIPTION:
Iai Obi - cotton in black or white.

IO-2 Iai Obi
DESCRIPTION
Iai Obi - polyester/Tsmugi Ori in black, brown, navy blue, green and white.

Have you tried these? Is there much difference?

No, sorry, I buy keikogi from him and other sword stuff. I get obi and hakama locally - not as good but cheaper.

Best wishes,

Scott

Like Scott, I also recommend Nine Circles. The quality is very good and you can see the price is low. I bought a hakama from him about four years ago and still no sign of wear in the knees (perhaps I should go to training more).

Indeed Quentin is very helpful, he will make sure you get the right stuff.
