Microsoft won't allow it. Best thing is to get someone Stateside to buy them for you and ship it.

Or order/buy Online.

I got plenty of Software that I bought online and downloaded and/or ahd the CD's shipped.
Most companies will now sell via the net aswell.

Need a CC for that of course.

Cheers.

Really? I thought MS objected. But if they will sell, it's good news.

MS can only object to MS Software being sold via one of their outlets.

If I go onto lets say Amazon.com or similar and order fom there, they can't say anything.

English Software is available in japan, but you need to go to a place that specialises in it.

Cheers.

P.S.: English Software runs well on Japanese OS. ;)

The real kicker is finding a place that ships out of the states to japan. It took me a while to find a dependable place. I have found it easier to simply get a copy from a friend.

I have also found that most of the places require you to have a billing address in the states, even if you are shipping to japan. Expect that the shipping will make up for the difference in prices here in Japan.

Any specific stuff you want, maybe I/we can help you out.

Dan.

Most of the Software I use comes from Europe and they will ship/sell directly to Japan.

But than I don't from an overseas shop, but directly from the vendor.

Don't see why US-Vendors should be any different.

Only reason why I could see asking them for an overshipping address would due to tax reasons.
Which is BULL, you should not have to pay tax, on things you buy online.

Jody, let me know what you are after.

Cheers.

Ah, Peter nails it. They're chasing non-existent taxes.
Tough to convince them that there's no need, though.

actually its for fraud prevention. Something about false credit card numbers...

As for US vendors, like I said, most of them don't ship direct. Hell, I was having a hard enough time finding someone to ship to Matt's APO. This is especially true for game producers like EA or activision, btw.

And again, if its a question of price, the 30 bucks that shipping will cost generally add up. Jody might want to bite the bullet and buy here. Generally I find it easiest to have a friend buy and ship things to me.

Seen the fraud prevention Software working last week.

I ordered 2 DVD's from Cyberkwoon, their CC-Verification Software spit my order back saying that my Address is in Japan, but my Companies IP-Address is in Thailand (66% probability).

Send them an IP-Trace I ran to verify that BOTH are in Japan.

Sorry, don't really buy the fraud prevention idea.
False CC-Numbers will be thrown out the minute the order is charged.

Why isn't the same system/requirement in place at European Companies and the US-Companies where I ordered stuff.
Seeya.
