Does anyone know of a group in Ventura county? I have searched the yellow pages and internet.... I found a Kendo group but was wondering if anyone knew of an iaido or kenjutsu group. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hello Mr. Fittro,

To the best of my knowledge, Ventura is pretty dry for swordsmanship and most other arts. There may be a Shinkendo dojo opening near Pine Mountain soon, if you know where that is, and there may be some periodic instruction further North (near Avila Beach).

If your interested in either of these, let me know. Otherwise, good luck. Your probably going to be in for a drive either way.

Scott Sensei,

Thank you for your reply. I knew it was dry up here but I didn't expect a desert! So, if Kendo is my only reasonable option, do people feel it's a good introduction to JSA's? I'm not interested in competing but in learning kata and suburi.... Anyone?

Thanks again,

Most people don't have any option at all. Consider yourself lucky to have a local kendo dojo, go try it out and see if you like it.
