Just came back from training at daikomyosai '02. It is Phil Legare's last one before he moves to Japan.:( Phil(of course) was there, Dick Severance, COl. Bob Thomas, Charles Collins, Ron Blackwood were all there. I will post pics if anyone wants to see them. Tomorrow's training will be excellent I am sure...tonight Phil was asking us to throw any weapon around and use it for a technique, he used an empty golf bag on me, pretty funny! Just pm me if anyone wants to see a photo or two...

Thanks, Jon Gillespie

Now, please help me to be unconfused about the location
of Daikomyosai.

Isn't it held in Japan each year around Soke's birthday?

From your post it looked like you attended one in the US
or have I completely lost it! ;)

Cheers!

In respect for Hatsumi sensei some folks hold mini 'Daikomyosai' events at various places if they can't make it to Japan.

In the mini Daikomyosai the theme was the 2.75th dimension - not being the full third; a mini Richard Van Donk did the mini 'Nikita and Tequila Tango' - but being a mini version it was more of a two-step; and a mini Natasha dumps a mini Yabunaka, only damaging the smaller bones of her hand and his ribs.

Well Chikara maybe a little from column A, and a little from column B...just kidding. We had a Daikomyosai in Columbia Md recently in honor of Soke. It is also Phil Legare's last one in America for three years or so. He is moving to Japan. Lucky Phil.:)
Shidoshi Karl Koch will be celebrating Daikomyosai in Raleigh NC, the second week in January.

Here is a shot from Shidoshi Koch I call OW! Enjoy. Jon Gillespie

Ha..... I figured as much.

....and then lastnight we had our Christmas get-together
and video night for our dojo. Sensei had a tape of
Daikomyosai with Phil held in British Columbia in his
collection. We didn't get around to watching that one,
but watched others with Phil, RVD, etc. Perhaps it was
the wine, but we laughed a lot watching those tapes! :)

Mr. Phil used to be over us, before my time, but there
must have been some sort of falling out... I dunno the
details.

Jon, is that you saying "Ow!" in the picture?

No, the UKE in that photo is Sensei Carry Irwin, 4th dan. But I was right there with him after I snapped the shot...OW!

Well he lives in Northern Colorado, has a training group in Louisville, right outside Boulder in the foothills...beautiful place.
(I spent my whole life there, and moved east last year...:( ) Md is great, but I miss the mountains--and did someone say humidity?whew!

Can anyone guess this sensei's name? (Hint he is from the eastern US)
I know the photos are a little dark, but you can tell who it is...
