Just wondering guys

What kind of ratio of time on each aspect of Shorinji Kempo is in place at training at your branches

eg warmup, kata, sotei, meditation, seiho, etc etc

Gassho.
At the Kokubunji Doin, the breakdown is as follows:
Warmup: 20 to 30 mins.
Kihon: 40 mins.
Chinkon and howa: 10 to 15 mins.
Kamokujutsu: Up to 50 mins.
No real warmdown, and seiho we do infrequently, often in the time after formal training ends and before we get kicked out of the hall.

In Visby branch we do this way:

We start with kihon for about 50 minutes.
Kihon is always integrated with warm ups. We do it slow and easy in the beginning and intensify later on during kihonpractice. I have always wondered why clubs still do jumping jacks etc. when they can do sashi kae ashi - jun zuki or tenchiken form for warming up? Why waste 25 % of your time in the dojo jumping up and down while you instead can practice form or other techniques to warm up?

After this we do chinkon and short howa for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Then we do Kamokujutsu for about 30 minutes.
In Visby Branch we have changed our way of practicing techniques the last year. Today we practice according what kind of attack it is.
For example kyu kenshi practice defence againsed a gyaku zuki.
Every technique up to shodan can be practiced.
Next time we kyu kenshi maybe practice defense againsed a grab to the inside of the wrist in jun.
Every technique up to shodan can be practiced.

Student with shodan or above practice according to technique groups ( Nioken, byakurenken, Ryukaken, Rakanken etc)

We find this way very good in a small branch like Visby

We finish with 30 minutes of randori or application practice.
We use different “drills” to make the student used to randori or applications. Free randori is used maybe 15 % of the time and only by them who understand our “drills” in a good way.
