View Full Version : Back Flexibility

I've been attempting handsprings for about two years now with no improvement. I still get into position and fall flat on my back. I've had the technique explained to me and think I have the basic understanding of the technique. I am also able to do handstand push-ups, so I don't think that arm strength is an issue.

What I do have problems with is flexibility. While I am overall not a flexible person, my back is particularly bad. My sensei describes it as a "board" if that helps at all. I recently started doing yoga daily, and it has helped a little, as well as bridging exercises. I was wondering if anyone else had advice or specific exercies which might help.

Thanks,

Try lying flat on your back, legs slightly apart, arms at a slight angle to your body, palms facing upwards and fingers "supple". The rock your centre from side to side keeping your chest and neck mucles relaxed.

Oh and breath deeply.

Do this for about 20 to 30 minutes then lie still for a short while.

Let me know if this works.
