Guys, lay off the kid. He was fooling around at the school AV lab and someone got hold of the video and posted it without his permission. It caused him a lot of problems at school, to the point where there is a lawsuit involved. The only thing this kid is guilty of is not keeping his play acting hidden. I'm sure just about everyone did something like this as a teenager/young adult.
Making fun of him is nothing more than cruel, pointless, mean, and just bad form, it makes you no better than his peers who have subjected him to public ridicule. Go make fun of the bad budo guys, most of them deserve it far more than this kid does.

It's a sad fact that obesity is the most unacceptable stigma throughout our society.

A survey of schoolchildren aged under 6 recently showed that they would rather bully fat kids than those of differing religion, gender or skin colour.

His site says it all:

"The Star Wars Kid was just goofing off at school. Now he finds his private performance downloaded by over 15 million Internet users across the world.

The Star Wars Kid is a 15-year-old from Quebec known only as Ghyslain -- his parents are keeping his last name secret to protect his identity. Back in November 2002, Ghyslain was goofing off at a school video studio and recorded himself fighting a mock battle with a golf ball retriever lightsaber. Over two minutes, the video shows the lone, overweight teenager twirling his mock lightsaber ever faster while making his own accompanying sound effects.

Yes, we've all had our dorky, private moments, but this poor kid is living the nightmare of having his private dorkiness projected across the world to giggling Web users. His friends found the tape, and uploaded it to KaZaA as a joke..."

It doesn't become educated adults to join in.

Lay off the lad, you could very well be fat one day and then who'll be laughing.

This kids got nothing to be ashamed of. He's an internet celebrity! Heck, he may even get a movie deal! You never know...
Thank you Ghyslain, for a bit of entertainment.:)

I agree, my old reply was a little hasty. To the lad in the video. Sorry big guy.

I went to http://jedimaster.net/ and bought a t-shirt as penance for laughing before thinking, seems appropriate penance!

I can relate to that video - well before learning anything about sword and staff, I'd still pick up a substitute and swing wildly. These days, I know a little bit more and would like to think I'd appear to be more competent, but everyone starts out not knowing a damn thing and it's only through good fortune and hard work that we improve.

I ordered a T-shirt and sincerely hope that it's true that the profits are being shared with Ghyslain. He didn't choose to put himself on display and be publicly ridiculed. It would be nice if some positive things were to happen for him as a result.

Hmm . . just reread my post and I didn't mean to sound like such a stiff standing on a soapbox. I watched all the videos and they are damn funny. Part of me too is cheering him on and hoping that he was victorious against his imaginary opponents.

Go Ghyslain!
