tameshigiri with bamboo

What can i use to put bamboo on while cutting seeing that i dont have a proper cutting stand yet? Anyone have any ideas?

Can you get hold of one of those concrete blocks with a hole that they use to stand flags in? As long as you put some sort of sleeve in so that the bamboo remains firm and unmoving they work well.

Failing that center a metal sleeve and pour concrete into some big old container to make your own.
