OK, I have a prblem now. The STar Wars Kid clip shows humour and wit, and was obviously intended to do so. Is the original clip therefore intentionally bad, in which case it is rather good. Anyone who remembers Robin Williams in a roller skate sequence from Mork & Mindy, or the Michael Crawford roller skate sequence from "Some Mothers do 'ave em" will be aware that doing something badly is often the product of a high degree of technical proficiency. Is the guy actually a lot better than the clip suggests?

Incidentally, does anyone recognise the forms? Are they made up, or is he doing recognisable bo kata?

It struck me, speaking from my limited staff experience, that he had a pretty good grip on some staff fighting ideas, but that the ideas were pushing him past what he was physically capable of at that moment. Comments?

Wait a minute.... That's me :D

My friend showed me this movie, because I'm a Star Wars Fan and compared me doing Bo Kata with this kid :P

LET HIM BUSK!

Hey, if I saw him busking, I'd give him a few dollars :P

I have yet to see a busker using a Bo staff. If this guy was to do it, I'd suggest he ask the audience to stand back... way back!

If you look at the unedited version, you'll see it isn't any proper Bo, more like something from a Swimming Pool attendant's tool-kit. This light Aluminium pole with a handle on one end and a loop on the other. Maybe he really can do Bo, but the difference in weight is throwing his technique. Or he's doing it badly on purpose... then again, perhaps not :D.

I can't talk, my Bo technique would be worse than his. Seriously.

Can anyone tell me what the Japanese term for a golf ball retriever is?

Golf Ball Retriever? Would that be a Labrador?

I never realised until today that this video clip is already the subject of two threads on the Budo Fun forum. Seems like he really gets around.

‘Star Wars’ star?

Will the infamous “Star Wars Kid” have his moment on the silver screen?

A homemade video of a 15-year-old from Quebec using a broomstick as a light saber became a favorite on the Internet, and now thousands of Star Wars Kid fans are petitioning LucasFilm, asking that the boy get a cameo in Episode III of the series.
“’NSync members were considered as potential extras,” wrote one petition signer. “This kid deserves a speaking role!!!” Noted another; “He’s waaaaay better than Jar Jar.”

Looks like somebody needs to back off the Dungeons and Dragons just a little... It's going to get him hurt eventually.

Seriously though, it is stuff like this and homemade porn that is the single biggest argument for keeping video cameras out of the hands of the public...

I don't think I can watch it again... Okay, okay, maybe just ONE more time!
