...doesn't live here any more. Looks like Bruce kicked his ass and he fled screaming into the night. Did I miss the thread where he resigned from e-budo?

Update:

Oooooh! I just read about his temporary banishment. Sorry, Ton! No doubt you'll be back to ridicule my religion in no time. Albeit more politely.

This thread can be deleted...

His temporary banishment has now been served......

He is free to return to the fold, don't know if he will though.....

The woo woo's still owe him a visit to Randi to take the test.

If that doesn't work, I'll try Kimpatsu three times. :D

Tony will need to make a grand entry on his return...perhaps riding a white horse...or perhaps a nude girl riding his back...fanfare, applause, maybe a ritual sacrifice of BruceB, lots of drinking and Hell raising...let the good times roll:D :D

It would appear that he has lost his voice. Perhaps some of our Reiki practicioners might be able to help... remotely?

Charlie Kondek

He's probably lamenting the fact that his genius is completely lost on us over-mystical proles here at e-budo. Oh, well! Pearls before swine!

And you win .......

NOTHING!! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! YOU ARE SO STUPID!!!

(Quote from the movie VHF, Wheel of Fish take off on "Let's Make a Deal.")

Does the logic of this situation and statement escape you? Well, it is not just funny, but an object lesson too. One that, my buddy, Tony Kehoe did not seem to grasp.

I hope he learns to grasp some of the comedy of life, and learns to pity those of lesser intelligence than himself, because that, my friends was one of his main character flaws that led to his downfall ... and it was so easy to exploit, once I knew what it was.

We all bring something to the forum, and no matter how stupid we are in the beginning, we can, and will, learn from each other.

The emotional state of each human being, along with our growing grasp of purpose for ourselves, is a learning process that is experienced over a lifetime, and not all the answers are found in lectures or in books, but the application of lessons... which is actually more important than most people think.

How many times does our martial training rely on both the visual and physical practice, but along the verbal and written instructions our purpose is not only easier in finding answers, but much quicker too.

To learn in a group, we must tolerate each other. Tony forgot about tolerance, let alone he was going through a growing phase in not only his age, but in his knowledge also.

I think he was afraid to look stupid? Oh Well.

If everybody was smart .... there would be no such word as stupid, would there?

(yeah, yeah ... I know ... except for me .... writing these stupid replys.)

Grasp the situation comedy of 'wheel of fish'? Yep..... then come on down, you are the next contestent on "The Price is Right"!

Not really, just kidding....

Hearing Bruce say "I told you so" is the kind of thing that might elicit a Return of the Kehoe... or simply confirm to him that some conversations are meant to be IGNORED.

I wonder which cold and draughty observatory has been home to Kimpatsu for the last few weeks. Imagine all those hours time travelling back through eons of time to see images of mass creation and destruction that took place before anything happened... anywhere...

Charlie Kondek

Well, I'll come right out and say it.

Tony Kehoe is scared of Bruce B.

Oh, well...

Tony Kehoe is not afraid of anything!!!!

(except himself)

Everyone who posts is here for information, entertainment, and to work out their own particular problems in some way or form.

Admit to that, accept it, embrace it, and life is much easier. Problems are lighter, and put in their proper place or perspective.

Leave Tony Kehoe alone.

The guy is getting himself together, and putting things into proper perspective.

You want to pick on Tony? You gotta go through me.

And ... quite a few others who stand with me, despite the fact we do not each other, personally.

You see ..... there comes a time when each of us has to change, and, I believe, it is time for Tony Kehoe to change... evolve from a child to adult. We all have to mentally change as the body changes, and youth is forever lost, and I could plainly see Tony Kehoe was having a very difficult time of it, as is Phil Sharp and a few others also.

Right now ..... Mr. Kehoe is getting himself together, and we all should respect whatever time it takes for him to do that.

If you have ever been in a boot camp and seen people break, or not break, as some people become obsessively violent and rage against the machine, then you will understand what is going on here. This ain't boot camp, so give the guy his space.

Except for his own inner struggle .... I don't think .... Tony Kehoe is afraid of anything.

Hey guys, it's not all bad that Tony's gone...just think, the utterance of any of the following sentences would bring the wrath of Kehoe and ruin any threads where they could be found:

"I need to buy a new gi"
"I need to wash my gi"
"gi"

SAY IT FREELY, BROTHERS AND SISTERS! GI!

Any UK-based E-Budo readers may be wondering if Tony Kehoe has in fact been given a false identity, some dark make-up and some new glasses. I can assure you that this is an unfounded rumour. The member of the "Big Brother" House called Jon Tickle is a Physics Graduate who works as a Strategy Management specialist. He is most definitely not Tony Kehoe, the well-known Cosmologist-Translator who resides in Japan... although they may share more than a few character traits (I'll let you decide which ones...) :D

.. but it would go some way to explaining his continued absense from our global village, wouldn't it ;)

Ok.

This is aimed at Elder999 and Mike Williams, but not with any mal intent.

1) If people could be satisfied with what they have in their everyday normal lives, why turn on a computer? Except for entertainment or hobbies, what real value is there on posting in a forum?

Well, everyone is looking for some answer, some form of satisfacition, or working out some problem. The problem may not be earthshaking, or vitally important to your continued existence or survival, but there is something that satisfies a part of you when you interact in posting and reading forums. Hence, there is some problem, some question, or even some kind of emotional satisfaction from reading and writing words.

So Mike Williams, in the great scheme of things, if everyone was able to find what they needed, there would be absolutely no need in their lives, there would be no need to post.

Denial .... it may be true ... but in considering the factors that might be denied you are that much closer to the truth. Stop denying people have come here to find something, and maybe .... you too will see why you are here posting on line instead of being out in the big wide world with no time at all to spend on line?

2) Elder999.

Well, Aaron, I guess I have the big brother complex. I tend to defend the weak, the helpless, or those who are picked on because I am the oldest son of eight children, and I can.

The morality of the socially correct groups is not always right, and the verbal abuse can be pretty bad when they get a group rant going, especially for entertainment, and sometimes it just pure ticks me off. So I speak up, or get between those that seem to be getting out of hand, even if I pure outright can't stand somebody, I respect those who TRY to correct their mistakes, or at least TRY to change.

Shouldn't we all?

No offense, Aaron, but sometimes being so smart can make you stupid. I tried to get into the driven psychological perogitives of emotional and sexual that take away ones ability to think clearly, or stress one out to the point of insanity, but there are too many children here who are in the throws of it, they can't see clearly enough to discuss it without dirty XXX comedy. So, that thread had to die.

My motivation is not clear, because you don't know me, you have never met me, and by the standards of your life, writing like this is either out of bounds, or cause for insanity. Isn't it?

Well, get a hold of yourself, pard. These are only words.... and part of an entertaining pseudo world at that. I can't fathom certain types of higher math, but damned if I can't figure out how to isolate a problem and fix something given the basic terms of a problem. Mechanical aptitude, but limited retention skills ... probably a side effect from effects classified under Meniere's disease. Maybe that is why my tech manual were full of greasy fingerprints, and full of scribbled notes.

I realize, I must identify and recognize my own faults, inabilitys, and what may seem to be antisocial behavior.

My own problems, my own identification of things I have denied to retain socially acceptable standards of sanity to achieve retirement status.

Well, I am retired, now. I don't need to pretend that going along with the status quo is right, although I do follow a general morality accepted by the status quo, I am now allowed to activevly pursue those little annoying, nagging questions of life, of science, of possibilities, and not have to worry about having enough money to pay the bills because I didn't work this week.

Status quo? Putting my mental house in order to find answers, or at least, get some of you rockheads to see how society manipulates you into becoming status quo citizens. Not that it is a bad thing, if you know that is what you are, but it is pretty stupid if you don't know that is what you are.

Inside each society, as in ours today, we have a set of perogitives that fits behavior, survival, and continued survival of the species. Many of you do not recognize or pay attention to these things, and still you ask the damnedest questions of what do I want?

I want to solve the riddle of social interaction between human beings that creates a need for martial arts.

That is ... my only reason for posting on forums.

Now if the damned details would just get themselves in order, I could write a book and be done with it all. My place in history would then be a footnote in some library .... just like all of us,may or, may not., be in the very near future.

I am anything but a "status quo" citizen, believe me.

As for the "riddle of social interaction between human beings that creates a need for martial arts,", if I solve the riddle will you go away???

How about, "We're all killers at heart," or "the need to impose our will or protect the sheep from the wolves in the fold..."

He has appeared on the Shorinji Kempo forum, as though in a vision from on high. He explains that he has been unable to access the Members' lounge to post. He also said that his PC will be out of action for ten days, so we must be patient a little while longer.

He mentioned that he had recieved messages of support from many E-Budoka from a variety of styles, and was grateful.

He expressed surprise that none of the Shorinji Kenshi had signed the petition for his reinstatement (there was a petition?), or sent him Email to offer support. I'm still working on my answer to that one.

Basically, I think it boils down to the association of one's personal views with the views of one's organisation. While Tony displays many of the positive characteristics that Shorinji Kempo seeks to promote, his views do not necessarily represent the official viewpoint of the organisation as a whole. Overt support from every Shorinji Kempo E-budoka could have reinforced the view that "ALL" Kenshi shared his views. This would have been inappropriate, under the circumstances, where a member was suspended from a forum for infringing the requirements of membership.

We are all individuals and can be taken on one-on-one. Our strength of character and self-reliance will be evident. We don't need to run back to our side of the street and get our gang to shout louder. We will stand and face the opposition with all the indvidual fortitude required.

Tony is a unique member of E-budo... there ain't no-one quite like him. If everyone is willing to tolerate some of his nonsense in order to enjoy his contributions, then I feel we shall all benefit. Perhaps the anti-social aspect of his previous demeanor will ease off, as he adopts a less confrontational approach. Perhaps not ! Either way, he will be subject to the rules of the forum, just like anyone else.

His role as a leading citizen of the community is likely to resume once the PC repairs are complete. I look forward to it.

Hooray for Captain Spaulding!

bruceb
13th June 2003, 14:01
We are all accountable for our actions, and the only actions that can be seen in forums .... is words.

Maybe freedom of speech is a human right .... but the actions that people take when they read our words also have certain repercussions also.

Hence, the moderator.

Even Captain Spaulding was fleeing from the long arm of the law, in all the Marx Brothers movies, because no matter how funny the gags or words were ... the repercussions under the auspices of the reigning authorities were the reality within the comedy.

We shouldn't need to be struck dead to realize the balance of things in our society and our life.

What am I trying to say?

Sometimes we all lose touch with the boundarys of what is acceptable for conversations in open forums, and when that happens .... do the crime, do the time.

Hey, Kehoe! Don't they have free time computers at work, or a library?

When Tony gets back, I am gonna dissappear for a while.

Growing old .....

Now there is a concept that brings about a number of ideas.

Being the "IN CROWD", or being accepted by the '"in crowd, being in the crowd, or simply being "just what you is and not what you is not" ..... the general pictures of growing older as the human body grows old, wrinkled, has hair growing the strangest places, and what is that smell? Well, it is all you, and that stranger in the mirror is your too.

Why does growing old suck?

Because it involves change.

It involves accepting your body is going to have limits, and the lines of those limits have shortened from the height of your physical and mental abiltities..... you are gonna have to make up the those limitations in other ways.

Between 30 and 40, or, for those young at heart, 35-45 years old, that change is gonna cause some problems in accepting the limitations of growing older.

This may or may not be the case with Mr. Kehoe, and few other members going through the changes .... or so it seems in examining the way the posts have changed ever so slightly for people in this age bracket. I am no expert, but could the denial of growing old be a major consideration of those of us over 30? Maybe.

In relation to Mr Kehoe cracking the upper 30's into his forties, and me cracking upper 40's in my fifties, I would say, in many ways, we both agree to disagree because whoever we were was a lot more fun than the people we are becoming.

Yeah, growing old sucks, but that is who you must be. You get to age one day at a time, and you can never go back. I believe that the great battles of posts is due to a generation gap, or at least, the refusal to admit to our real age.

Kind of makes it fun, but unless we all accept that we are who we are, the illusions of petty arguements will continue.

If there must be arguements over learning .... let the next generation do it .... because I don't need to go there, and neither does Mr. Kehoe.

I understand this uneasy comedy of draw, withdraw, bait and switch ..... which makes for a poor forum.

I am glad trolls is not popular. I am glad that some very intelligent and gifted teachers come here to speak their opinions to clear the air. If growing old means learning from your mistakes quicker, then I should be the fastest learner in my neck of the woods ....

Hey ....

Growing old is inevitable, and very tough when the possibility of being thumped by someone half your age is a greater and greater possiblity each day, but someone has to do it (grow old).

I don't like growing old, and a whole bunch of you seem to pretend it isn't happening, but it is. Get used to it, and learn to grow into it. Stop pretending time can stand still for your peak of physical skills .... it won't , and you can't make it.

I hope to see a wiser, kinder Kimpatsu when he comes back, with less of the childish bait and switch.

Maybe .... let some of intellectual genius out so others might learn too.

I am glad you are back Tony, did you spend anytime reflecting upon the soap opera and posts like I encouraged you to do?

I hope so ...

Hey, in case you haven't heard, I have decided to be a lurker who only posts every couple of weeks instead of every day.

That is exactly what I plan to do, and despite what anyone says, or implys, my reflection of "time to quit" is, not a literal quote, but a figurative reflection of reading posts and getting bored at the same old subjects coming up again, and again, and again without variations or even any interesting sidebars that take us into new territory with new thoughts.

It has been getting .....BORING.

No more ... Tony is back, and Bruce will fall silent ... except for an occasional visit, now and then.

By August I will be 50 years old ... about time I shut up, eh?

But I think Wonder Woman is your best bet - just think of all the fun you could have with yourself..................:D

Tony - In order for this test to really have any beleivable results I think that I will have to pick the women ....... And no, the study group will not include my wife.

Aaaaah, the plot thickens!
The game is afoot. Come Dr Watson, there is no time to lose.

"Arrogant Bastard"
Sounds fairly insulting, but also relatively mild and at least partially accurate (I've no idea about your parentage, but there can't be any disagreement about "arrogant" surely, Tony? Anyone?)

Is this going to get any deeper, shall I buy some popcorn and beer, all the better to enjoy the spectacle? ;) .

Sorry Tony,
I should have known that someone of your superior intellect and purient tastes wouldn't be hip to the 'Beavis and Butthead' character 'Cornholio'. Cornholio is Beavis' alter ego when he has had too much caffiene and sugar. It's not everyone that is deserving of the "Onmitsu photoshop treatment" (as opposed to the "Aunt Jemima treatment; See Murray, Bill-Reference:Stripes) :)

Now, where did I leave those red tights?

Here's a tip for you on pop culture you can't afford to miss out on - "Tripping the Rift".

The web site on SciFi Channel has just recently been updated. If you haven't seen the original short this is all based upon, do some looking. The file is huge and unless you want to do a P2P download I'm not interested in trying to disseminate it.

Hi, Harvey.
Doesn't "Tripping the Rift" have something to do with a 1970s SF comic book? I have vague memories of reading it somewhere.

Shitoryu Dude
24th June 2003, 04:32
No - it's a spoof of Star Wars and Star Trek that is vulgar, rude, sexist, and contains a lot of nudity and violence for no other reason than guys think that its funny.

Isn't life great?

Oh my God, I can't feel my legs. I've eaten so much popcorn and drunk so much beer that I can hardly move. I may have to stay in front of the TV for the rest of my life!

I think I may have become an American!

Apologies to those hard-working, super-fit and charming nephews and nieces of Uncle Sam who frequent these boards. I fear that someone has been tampering with my nose-bag recently and the levels of sarcasm in my feedstuff has affected my posting. Apologies.

I used to hate Beavis and Butthead while they were on MTV but they eventually grew on me. Truly sophmoric humour along the lines of "South Park".
By the way Tony, Happy Belated Birthday.
You are exactly 1 month younger than I.:p
How about that Hulk Movie?

Cady Goldfield

Southpark is a lot more sophisticated than Beavis & Butthead.

"Cartman, you fat a$$!"
and
"Hiii-dee ho, boys and girls!"

vs.

"Huh-huh huh-huh! He said 'wood'!"

Most definitely. How do I get a copy?

Shitoryu Dude
25th June 2003, 06:04
It used to be you could download it directly from their site, but once SciFi Channel gobbled them up you had to go to Level 13 and download it.
You can find it on the usenet - I did a search with BearShare last night and came up with a few good sites. It is about 26 meg in size, so I hope you have a broadband connection.

If that doesn't work send me a PM and we'll work something out.

My PC's in the workshop at present (I'm logging on at work), so I'll have to wait until it's returned before I try downloading, but thank you again anyway.
