Well, this is interesting. I just borrowed a friend's copy of Understand? Good. Play! and read through it. It's an excellent book. The reason I wanted to read it is in large part because of this site here:

http://www.angelfire.com/ga3/bujinkan/whispers.html

By one 'David K. Martin'. I read this page several years ago, well before the book was released, and I was surprised to discover that many of the quotes from this website are used without alteration in the book. Any of you who have read the book, please check this out and tell me your reactions. Any of you who have not read the book or are not interested in the similarities, I recommend reading this website anyway, because there is some great stuff from Hatsumi-soke on those pages.

Does anyone know who David K. Martin is?

Does anyone know of any connection between him and the authors of the book that I don't? There is no mention of him anywhere on or in the book. Any sign that he might have given permission for the use of these quotes, or that they weren't his to begin with? They are written in a very informal and personal style.

Reactions?

The quotes there are from the ura and omote archives, from the Quotations from Soke section Ben Cole made.

Well, that's a relief. Good to know that those belong in the book, because they're very good. Thanks!
