Here is an intresting read on the word "soke" used so often by the great internet Soke's.

Yep, I've put that link up many times here. Another good one is Dr. Friday's 'Historical Foundations of Bushido' (http://www.koryu.com/library/kfriday2.html), to cool off the Hagakure-quoting crowd.
Westerners abuse so many Japanese terms it's hilarious. I'm still waiting for "Meijin" to be used as a rank.

Excellent article, thanks. I have screamed this at people for years, but now they are all sokes:D

The article was based of a thread from E-Budo.
Here a Soke, There a Soke, Everywhere a Soke (http://www.e-budo.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4521&highlight=soke)
Interesting stuff.

Ah I see. Sorry to have post an article which has been in circulation for some time now.
I just find it a bit funny that it seems that the great "martial artist pony tail" is required by so many "Soke's." :D

Sorry *don’t be*, I bet a lot of people still have not read the thread or the article. I just stubbed across it a few days ago.
I posted the link to it for I thought that you might want to read what others wrote and maybe even contribute to the thread in question.
