How about the worst warm up bamd you ever saw? It is ironic that at the final gig the NY Dolls played, one of the best shows I ever saw, they had the worst warm up act, bar none.

It was a solo, the "XXXXX Eye Show". (I censored the guys name, in case he is still around, to spare him the humiliation.) It was the most elaborate, self indulgent, off the wall, homocentric musical theater piece ever concieved.

Then of course there was Sid and Marty Suicide on a double bill with the Cramps at CBGBs, the best and worst warm up act and headliner all in one.

It was a band called Homegrown... They were one of the local bands that won a contest to open for more (well known / made it bands) at a KROQ‘s (a local radio station) Weenie Roast. What saved them was that they were funny and very interactive with the audience.

A band called the Mentors warmed up for Black Flag at The Ritz in the mid 80s. Fat shirtless skinheads, with executioner masks on, with lyrics taken from a porno book.

Non stop violent profanities spewed out at the audience, made Henry Rollins' pelvic grinding later in the evening, seem like a prudish posturing, compaired to their reasonless rantings.

Then of course there where the junkies, that would wander on stage and take the mike at CBGBs during a lull in band activity.
