I have seen them, no it's not a real sword style he uses. In one of them, though (sadly, I cannot remember which one), one of the samurai does do a waza from one of the schools of iai (not MJER or MSR, some other school... I can't remember that, either).

Wow, that looks like fun! I wonder how long it'll take to get over here on DVD.

Hey, isn't the new Zatoichi played by Takeshi Kitano (aka Beat Takeshi?), the same guy that is one of the goofball "commentators" on the "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge" (formerly Takeshi's Castle) on Spike TV?

That's correct he started life out as a comedian and then went in to TV presenting (in his own very interesting and wacky style, Takeshi's Castle being one example). At the moment he is one of the main presenters of 2 (maybe 3) weekly shows (of which the name has slipped my mind). I was surprised myself to findout all this as before I had only knew of him through Yakuza movies that he has made (he both starred and directed some of them) and Battle Royale. He has also starred in one other samauri theme based movie 'Go Hatto' which looks at the issue of homosexuality among the bushi classes.

For an english subtitled edition on to DVD it might be worth checking back from time to time here www.cdjapan.co.jp and here http://www.samuraiflix.com/
