Could somebody help me by telling what these words migh mean:

Tensho, kansetsuwaza, osaewaza and "okugi ura juppoo".

It might help to know that these are supposedly jujutsu technique categories.

Thanks, I just wonder... If kansetsuwaza is joint manipulation, how come they also have gyakutewaza? How do they differ?

I have here some technique names from both categories, if that helps clear the context:

Gyakutewaza

1. Kotegaeshi
2. Kotehineri
3. Koteotoshi
4. Udeotoshi
5. Katateoshikomi
6. Katateoshikiri
7. Morotegaeshi
8. Moroteotoshi

Kansetsuwaza

1. Tekubidome
2. Udehishigi
3. Katahishigi
4. Nikandome
5. Udegarami

Any help?

Ok, thanks. I was just wondering because so many of the techniques seemed so similar by their names.

I'll chime in. Not seeing the kanji for "gyakute" it's hard to say for sure, but if "te" is hand, then all of the techniques list there are hand/wrist reversals. The others include things like udegarami, which is a joint manipulation against the elbow. So my guess is that whomever organized the techniques felt that the variety and importance of wrist locks merited them having their own category.

Okey, thanks. That would explain it.
