I'm really amazed that there is no thread about this. If there is one and I haven't found it, I'm really sorry.
Prof. Kozo Ando sensei, 8 dan kendo kyoshi has suffered a stroke and passed away on his flight from Europe back to Japan on October 8. He was only 63.
Ando-sensei was a very important personality here in Europe, especially in Germany, where he came regularly to offer seminars. He was also one of the first national coaches in Germany and tried hard to help Kendo develop over here. He was the co-author of the "Kendo-Lehrbuch", a standard work that every German kendoka has read.
I've met Ando-sensei twice at seminars and I remember him as a harsh partner in ji-geiko, who didn't have any mercy and made you fight until you were exhausted and then gave you a kind smile afterwards. He will be missed.
