Ladies and gentlemen -
I posted some time back about the shooting of my next door neighbor.
I thought I would post a follow up on how the situation is working out.
The officers who shot the man had to appear before a grand jury. This is apparently SOP in our area. The attorney for the city presented audio tape of the original 911 call, and heard testimony from all the witnesses involved.
The grand jury returned a no bill, meaning that the officers (and the city) are not criminally liable. What physical evidence was available and the testimony of those who saw the start of the incident contradicted the testimony of the wife, and I believe the grand jury therefore did not believe the rest of her testimony enough to return an indictment.
The civil action continues, and the wife has chosen a new attorney.
