I'm not having very much luck in finding much about
this ryuha. All I have is what Mark Bishop writes
about in his book, Okinawan Karate and some odd
findings on the net.

Can someone point me in the right direction?
I'm hoping to find a little history and if
lucky, some online video.

Thanks in advance.

Peace

Viel Dank. Ich finde diese Webseite sehr informativ.
Meine Frau muß übersetzen, bis sie fertig ist.

(Many thanks. I found this website very informative.
My wife must translate until it is finished.)

I see you are in Rocklin, are you thinking about working out with the Sacramento Uechi group? http://gaia.ecs.csus.edu/~wangji/ They are part of the Soke group.

Sochin and Sekko provided links to IUFK - Soke website.

I belong to the Kenyukai side of Uechi-ryu that rolls up to Kiyohide Shinjo-Sensei in Kadena, Okinawa. Here is our history and information. www.dentondojo.com (http://www.dentondojo.com) Kenyukai (http://www.alandollar.com) Takemi Takayasu (http://uechiryukenyukai.free.fr/AccueilUS.htm)

What specific questions do you have about Uechi-ryu?

Thank-you all for your input.

Jabonn,
Yes, I am looking at the CSU group. Since I've been
forced to go back to school, I noticed that there was
a group at my target college and wanted to know if I
would be compatible with it. Most of my training is
with Chibana-ha Shorin-Ryu but I've "dabbled" with
a few others.

I have no specific questions as of yet but I'll
look over the sites and get back to you if I do.

Thanks again all.

Peace.

I have work out with the CSU group a couple of times. I try to meet up with them when I come out to visit family and friends in Sacramento.

You can search the web on the 4 associations of Uechi-ryu: Kenyukai, Soke (IUKF), Shohei-ryu and Pangai-noon karate-do. Each one offers just a tad bit of a different perspective to the 8 kata that make up Uechi-ryu.

Good luck and let us know where you end up.
