I noticed a wine thread.... who actually drinks wine??? Let's talk about something far more interesting... WHISKY!!!

What have you got at home, which brand do you prefer?

Here's a list of what I've got at home from the top of my head (I'll give some specifics when I get home)

Glenmorangie (sherry wood finish)
Jameson
Ben Nevis
Glendronach (another sherry wood finish)
got another bottle can't remember the name

Lagavulin and laphroig are two of my favourites. Highland Park also suits me fine. I am no specialist in whisky, so i would sure like some reccomendations in the same "area" as those i have mentioned.
Some drink whisky with water, other without water, and some drink whisky like water. I prefer my scotch with only a hint of water, to open up the taste. Ice is not important.

At home: Laphroaigh, Old Poultney, Bowmore, Macallen, Scapa, Cragganmore and Blair Athol.

At work: Just a wee bottle of blended malt in case of emergency ;)

Hmm...

A bottle of 30 year old single-cask port wood aged Balvenie (unopened and not likely to be any time soon).

A Bottle of Johnny Walker Gold label.

A mini sized Johnny Walker Blue Label I got as a gift a while back.

Couple of bottles of Bushmill's 10 year old single malt.

A bottle of Bushmill's 16 year old single malt

A bottle of Bishmill's 21 year old single malt (almost empty).

Bottle of Tullamore Dew 12 year old.

Couple Bottles of Tyrconnell Irish Whiskey.

As you can see, I'm a huge Irish Whiskey fan.

As far as "water" is concerned, for Scotch, anyway, a couple of drops of distilled water into your Cup O' Kindness is enough to "shock" the Whiskey and mellow out the flavors. Anything more is a horrible sin.

Whisky I do not do. Myself and Jim Bean had a party when I was fresh out of highschool and Jim did horrible nasty things to me! I now get queezy just smelling whisky.
But I do have a bottle of Bushmills and Wild Turkey on the shelf. Bushmills for Irish coffee and Wild Turkey for cooking with.

Yeah, I myself had a nasty encounter with Jim Beam my freshman year of college and over a decade and a half later cannot stand downwind of the stuff without having the urge to hurl.

Not a big fan of Burbons, myself. Hell, I've actually turned down a bottle of Maker's Mark.

Irish Whiskeys and/or Scotch, though, are delicious in small, savory quantities.

A (single) sniff of Bushmill's goes great with a Guinness chaser

I personally think that Johnny Gold is severely over-rated. Blue and Green though... :D

If you're an Irish whiskey fan, have you dipped into Jameson Cask Strength? Num.

Black Bush is an Irish favorite of mine.

No argument, there.

Haven't tried Green yet.

Can't say I have. Have had a few sniffs of Midleton Very Rare, thanks to a very generous Publican buddy of mine just returned from Ireland.

Now, THAT'S the shiznit.

Ah, yes, the "Premium Blend." Good stuff for bar sippin'. Nice way to start off the night, with an accompanying Guinness, of course.

Although... for a couple bucks more you can get the 10 year old single malt and a marked jump in quality.
