Hello, this is my first post on these forums and I have a question.

When I was in middle school I became interested in the martial arts. My best friends cousin Steve taught a class at the local rec center for a dollar a month (What they charged him to use the space there). The style he taught was "Shorinryu Matsumura Seito Karate".

After I graduated Hight school I went into the navy and haven't been able to find a dojo or others that practice this style. After 7 years at sea I have finally landed shore duty (would have rather stayed to sea but they decied no to let me). I was wondering if any one knew of a dojo or person in the San Diego, Ca. area that practiced Shorinryu Matsumura Seito Karate.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I don't know anyone who teaches that particular style, but you have excellent opportunities in San Diego for other, quality, karate training.

Obviously, I've got to plug my instr., the head of the Japan Karate-do Organization (JKO) Of course, I think he's the best, or I'd be somewhere else. His name is Minobu Miki and he teaches at 3545 Midway Dr. in San Diego.
There are other JKO schools in the area, too. take a look at JKO Dojo (http://www.jko.com/schools.html)

There's also Tomohiro Arashiro of Ryuei Ryu.Arashiro bio (http://www.ryueiryu.com/start.html)

There are also IOGKF goju dojo in the area.

Z,

I will second Rob's reccomendation of Miki Sensei. I met him several years ago (I am sure he will not recall meeting me though) at a series of tournaments held in the Midwest. The demos I saw were quite good and he seems like a good man and excellent teacher.
