Hello Everyone!

I am in search of the kanji for sai, the three prong weapon.

I have not been able to locate it myself, either by book or web.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

PS - If you happen to know the kanji for kama (the sickle weapon), please send this as well.

The answer I think is that the Kama of the town Kamakura is the kanji that you want...

No luck on Sai, though - can't help with that, though! Sorry...

Hi Terrence !
When I saw your post an small idea came up in my mind. I´m not sure but the kanji you are searching for may be the kanji for SAI (rhino). I might have read something about a connection of this weapon and the animal, but I´m not sure. I´ll ask someone more professional.
Hope this helps

Hi again !
I asked my Japanese teacher and we searched the library for half an hour. It was very interesting but we are now nearly 100% sure that there is no kanji for sai.
For all those who are interested I found good information in the "nihon budo jiten". They also have many pictures in it which might help those who are not firm with the language.

Hi All!

Sorry I haven't replied sooner... life has been seriously hectic!

I truly appreciated all of the responses. I also have this reply to add:

Bo is #2750 in the compact Nelson's kanji dictionary.
Kama is #6326.

The others are written basically in katakana. I have never seen kanji for them.

There are online kanji dictionaries if you cannot get a Nelson's. Nelson's are available in most college bookstores or in a university library.

Many thanks to Kent for digging up the kanji for Sai.

As soon as I have a couple of minutes of free time, I'm going to post all of the kanji for all of the weapons I have. Share and share alike, I say!

I really must get a copy of Nelson's Kanji Dictionary. I have the NTC reference, but apparently Nelson's is more widely used.

Again, thanks for all the information!!
