I was wondering if Bujinkan Taijutsu had, well, for lack of a batter way of explaining it, "themes" in the body movements, especially the footwork. I guess what I have in mind is if there is an analogue of what, say, aikido has in its irimi and tenkan motions that are prevalent in all of their taijusu. Hope that made sense. Thanks.

It has what you might consider themes, but there are several different martial arts within the bujinkan, so there are several themes. It's also true that bujinkan arts are supposed to be not bound by themes, but by practicality.

So, your best bet is to study it for a time and see for yourself.
