There are lots of good Kendo clubs and Iaido instructors outside Japan. There's nothing wrong with going to Japan if you really want to, of course...

there are several good dojo in belgium, netherland and france. in bruxelles there is a gentleman called gomez who teaches kendo and iaido at a high level.

Lots of great places around the world to learn Iaido and Kendo, and plenty of Japanese instuctors giving seminars outside of Japan.

You don't need to go to Canada to learn hockey, you don't need to go to the U.S. to learn baseball, you don't need to go to Scotland to learn golf, and you don't need to go to Japan to learn sword!!!:D
