Hello Mr. Penland,

I was wondering what kind of Jujutsu you were looking for (modern or classical), where in So. Cal you are located and what kind of a commute you are willing to do to train in "authentic jujutsu".

I've lived in LA for a while, and know of a few dojo.

Hi Nathan,

Thank you for your reply! I am interested in a more Classical approach. I've been training Westminster Aikikai with Dang Thong Phong Sensei for about 6 years and enjoy my training very much! We train in Aikido primarily, but Phong
Sensei has also been kind enough to squeeze in a Judo class
every couple of weeks.

I would be interested more in studying privately from a
qualified instructor since I'm a busy family man (2
kids in college and 1 in junior high).

I live in Buena Park, but would be willing to drive a ways.

Thanks again Nathan!

Hello Mr. Penland,

Your name sure sounds familiar.

I'm quite impressed by Phong Sensei. I've met him a couple of times, and always enjoy his (and his student's) demos.

That's good stuff.

I might have something for you in regards to your request. Why don't you give me a PM or email and we'll yack more about it off line. If it turns out that your interested, I'd like to meet up with you before arranging to audit a class.

Hi again Nathan,

Sounds good! We spoke a few years ago about Shinkendo of
which I had expressed interest. At the time, I was biting
off a bit more than I could chew in the Martial Arts world
as I have a tendency to do. I just love to train. What can I say.

I think it's admirable what Obata Sensei and yourself are doing to further the art of Shinkendo. Integrity in any art form is rare these days. I'm still interested in Shinkendo as well, but I probably couldn't squeeze it in right now.

My E-Mail address is grpenland@hotmail.com

I look forward to the offline yacking through E-Mail.

Thanks again.............Randy Penland
