This pic came from Guy Power, but originated with Colin Hyakutake who says:
"Otsuyama san with his longer blade. This one shows his 130.30 cm blade.
He lives in Fukuoka, is in his late 40s, and unfortunately does not
practice any more."

Would one wear a blade of this size as such? Or is this just for posing in the photo?

He is wearing it as it is mounted and usualy draws it gyaku kesa or as you see it

Jeez, how the heck do you avoid saya ate with that thing.
Looks like something that should be in Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail with John Cleese waving it around.
But on a serious note, I would love to see some one demonstrate with that blade.

Hey Neil,
It was good to see you again at the seminar. It was a good turn-out and alot of fun. Got to see alot of people I hadn't seen in a long time.
Don has some video somewhere of a guy doing Iai with a No-dachi. The guy actually does Do-draws with the thing.

That particular one was 5000 Yen for 1 Sun. But that polisher is charging more now.
