Hello all,

I was hoping the sword smiths, sword collectors or budogu experts can help me out on this.

I was wondering if anyone can suggest what is the best way to artificial blacken brass fuchi & kashira ? Is there a specific name , chemical ( some oxidising agent ?), type of method or special antique finish which gives the Fuchi kashira a black antique look that I can do AT home that someone can point me to ?

Eagerly looking foward to all the help I can get :)

Thanks in advance

Joanne,
Try the experts at James Williams' Bugei sword forum. The site is full of experienced smiths, fitters and polishers.

It's a different site than the one Evan just gave, so it looks like you have plenty of sources now.

Thanks everyone for coming to my rescue !

I posted the same message at the froum which Evan mentioned and a kind gentleman was quick to help me out. Got the solution to patinating brass fittings now.

Just a short note of thanks to everyone :)

Cheers,
