Does anyone know of any sword style schools in Mississippi? It can be any sword style, from kendo to a koryu style. Thanks if you have any info. :)

Andrew,
it's great to hear from someone in Starkville. Good ole Starkville, MS....

Anyway, an awesome Shinkendo dojo is in Tupelo, which can be quite a drive for residents of Starkvegas. About an hour 15 min drive one way...I did it 2x weekly with my cousin.

Anyway, the dojo there is awesome, I trained with the instructor for roughly 2.5 years. If you can get out there, you will not regret it!

For more info on Shinkendo, check out www.shinkendo.com

Here is the info for the dojo in Tupelo:
Kaze Yama Dojo

Mr. Andrew,

I train at the Bujinkan Shingan Dojo in Columbus, MS. That's just down the street from you. We train in a lot of different traditional Japanese weapons including sword. In fact I just returned from a seminar in Tuscaloosa where the focus was Daisho (long and short sword compliment) while wearing armour. If interested, feel free to email me at: ironjaw2002@yahoo.com or call 662-549-4030.

Hope to here from you,

Mike Tucker

Hi!

Here is one Koryu Iaido dojo I have for Mississippi:

Mississippi - Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido in Oxford, at the Univ. of Miss.

Gordion Smith sensei

--------------------

Where are you located in Mississippi? There is a Kendo dojo way down South that is drivable to depending on where you are, in Lousiana.

Here:

Louisiana - Near Southern Mississippi
SWKIF

New Orleans Kendo Club
Tulane University Reily Center
Th 8:00-10:00pm Su 8:30-10:00am
Contact: Frank Anselmo (504)488-6341
e-mail: nokc@bellsouth.net

Dojo is approx. 50 miles from Bay St. Louis, MS.

------------

Oh yeah... getting there is part of training. If it is a little over 2 hours, that's not a big deal. My dojo is that far. I go twice a month and you can too, if the drive is a bit far. If you explain, the sensei should be ok with it. So, don't let that get in your way. :)

Be sure to call the sensei of each dojo you are interested in visiting before you go. You'll need to ask if you may watch a practice.

Good luck!

Hope this helps! :)

Sincerely,

Sorry, but I only refered my uncle, Neal. The others I had no knowledge of, nor did my uncle I believe.
