Hello,

A friend recently gave me a pendant with a kanji on it. She has however refused to tell me what it means...told me to find out for myself :) I have done a little bit of searching but have been unable to isolate it. I was hoping someone here might know what it is. Here is an image of the pendant:

Well? Look familiar to anyone? Please email me or post if you recognize this.

Thanks much!

Hi Michael,

The reading of this Kanji is "ka". It is currently used in compounds with the meaning fine, good, excellent, of superior quality. My dictionary says that the original meaning was fine-looking or beautiful (of pleasing appearance). Used independently, it means "beauty" or "superbness".

I'd love to hear the details, but i know you were just looking for some help with the meaning, so I will leave you alone :-)

Take care,

Adam

Yes. Its the Kanji KA. It means "pleasing", "beautiful", "skilled", etc. It's also the Kanji for ii/yoi, which means "good" (although the Japanese today write this in Hiragana).
