Hello all,

I just thought those involved in Karate, Ryukyu Kobudo or other Okinawan rooted arts would be interested to know that John Sells and the Hawley Library have just released the revised and re-edited second edition of "Unante - the secrets of karate".

I've got the first edition, and thought it was pretty damn comprehensive when that was released. However, I just received the second edition and was surprised to find that it was about 1/3 thicker than the first edition, and more nicely put together.

For those that don't know, Unante is not just another book on Karate, it really is a valuable volume of research that Mr. Sells has been sweating over for years. Definitely worth looking into.

The Hawley Library has also just released the "Karateka Keizu" genealogy wall chart. The chart measures 23" X 30", and is great for the home or dojo as well as a good companion to Unante, printed on heavy card stock.

Please contact the Hawley Library for further details:

Please excuse the blatant plug, but this research material (and other materials available from the Hawley Library) are unique, and I feel are worth getting the word out about.

Don't worry, Mr. Sells and Panchita are not going to get rich off these products! It is a labor of love.

Hope ya'll enjoy them!

Regards,

By the way, I've just updated the Hawley internet page (http://www.wmhawley.com) a bit; fixed the prices and updated the titles.

There is still a lot of restoration to do there, but since I volunteer my time to help out the Hawley Library I am limited to updating fixes as my free time permits.

Sorry for any inconvenience in browsing these pages! :)

PS. I'd love to hear any comments for or against the book if anyone has it yet!

Regards,
