Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a small question. I am looking for a Japanese toast to give at a dinner party. I like giving toasts in different languages and was wondering if there were any tradional or popular toasts that ayone on this board might know. Note : I do not speak Japanese (yet!) so I kinda need the Japanese version phonically spelled out (so I don't insult someones mother!) and what it means in English.
Please email me or post it here. Thanks in advance.

The most common toast in Japanese is "kanpai" (pronounced sort of like "con" (as in "con man")and "pie" (as in "American Pie"). It literally means "dry cup" or "bottoms up".
