Thanks for that, Indar. I'm always interested to hear of people and groups working to make things better, especially in fundamental ways such as with the WaterAid program.

I wonder what Kaiso's thoughts were, or would be in the current day, on charity. My impression is that he would be of the opinion that giving to charity is all very well, but that 1) it's also a way of handing off the actual work to someone else, and 2) it is the people in the given situation (in suffering) who need to be galvanized and empowered to pull themselves up (which of course is what happens in various worthy programs).

Thanks for replying;
My reason for posting this link is personal; I'm currently working in Nigeria as a VSO (volunteer service overseas); similar to the USA peace corps.

My training in Shorinji Kempo has been invaluable (although Nigeria really isn't as violent as you might think form the media reports). For anyone that is serious about Shorinji Kempo, doing this kind of work is one one way of putting your money where your mouth is.
