The name of the game... Battojutsu Taiketsu: Kyokochu ni tengoku! While the name does have Battojutsu, and while at first I thought it WAS Battojutsu (influenced... by Ruroken. :D ) I now know thanks to the guys in the Battoujutsu thread, that what I was basing my game on was NOT battojutsu. So, guess what?! I'm calling this E-Jutsu!!! ;) W/e, enough of my ramblings, lemme show you guys the screenshots (early in development):

And by the way, the English translation of the name is NOT Staircase to Heaven. Just sounds prettier than On the Road to Heaven... I thinkz. But meh, I might take it off...)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v299/OniRinku/Zelda%20Soul%20Changer/SelectScreenPreview1.bmpWell, first let's go and make a new Samurai!

Here, you pick a model (note, I will also add non-samurai people... But the game's focus is on Japan.) There will be alot more models later on, perhaps around 100 or so. O_O

Well, let's go and check the battles!

The left side of the screen is the left guy's view. So What the left player is seeing is the right player's movements.. But I think I'll change that since you can't really see the opponent's eyes and feet at the same time!

Any way, the game plays in a very "hit and dodge or else" way. Timing is crucial! I wanted to make it so the battles could be lengthy, but the way I have it now (and envisioned it)... That is not possible, so I'm going to add "free dodges" where the loser, instead of getting hit (and cut in half like butter) s/he dodges "automatically."
I'll put a story into it (historical fiction) to make it interesting and to have the "you must unlock the stuff" schbang. I'll also add some other extras in (BLOOPERS!!!)
This game will probably be finished somewhere in the summer or winter of this year. LOL. (And for those that are videogame freaks, yes, I'm using Fire Emblem sprites, cuz they were the easiest to manipulate and turn into "Samurais.")

Looks fun, but the pics are pretty small. Is it for a school project? When I was in college, some of the computer guys had to write a game using C++ or some darn thing. I don't really get how your game is played though...

looks good, keep us updated? Are you using Java, or C#?

Actually, I've been dying to learn C++ but no, I'm using RPG Maker. The thing is that this program is to allow people to make RPG games (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, etc. [Role-Playing Games]) with ease, but I'm doing one of the hardst things to do with this program; make a genre outside of what it was intended to be used for. Let's see how it comes out. Either way, I have a Samurai RPG idea on my head as well =)

And yes, the pics are small. That is Photobucket's fault, not mine :D

Well I'm not sure, but it kinda looks like Dragon Warrior for the ol' NES (AKA Dragon Quest). I used to play that game all the time.

Meh. Now you're saying these graphics aren't modern?! Huh?! (J/K) As I said before, it makes it easier to edit than if I had used some of the modern 2D graphics (I would've killed myself). But maybe I'll make the story mode of this game Dragon Quest-ish. And, BTW, Dragon Quest I and III ROX!!!

What does 'meh' mean? I see it in posts all the time...

meh is just an onomato... pia... thing... meh... It's like a sigh... But you write down meh instead of *sigh* since it is a sigh of indifference or annoyance... ... ... Ok, look, turn around and don't ask me anymore. LOL

BTW, should I take out Kenshin and Aoshi or is it cool to leave them there?

I have created 97 Samurai models already and I have 350 more to go!!! I am near the point of death with this thing, LOL!!!
