In the movie Elektra the main character practices
a discipline which is supposed to allow her to
envision what her adversary will do before he does it.
I think the character called it something like
"Kiriguri?"..."Kitiguri?"
(it was blurted out quickly and not mentioned again)
Since I saw it on TV and not DVD I couldn't replay.
The main character in "The Last Samurai" appears to be doing
this same thing. (Although they never describe or mention it.)
(He seems to have precognition of his opponent's offensive
strategy) (it is not reading of clues in the opponent's
posture, stance or musculature)
(although it could be argued that he has developed a
"library of images" in memory of his teacher's previous
attacks, he has the same seeming precognition later
in a fight with opponents he has never fought before)

Does anyone have any knowledge of such a discipline?

Practice. More practice. Perfect practice.
