Blwyddwyn Newydd Dda!

Other than the Bujin Ryu which has been discussed elsewhere on E-Budo, I am not aware of any Iaido-specific dojo in your area.

There is, however, a BK-affiliated Kendo Club in Cardiff, and the instructor there may know of an Iai study group. It couldn't hurt to contact him.

HTH.

(BTW: Are you thinking of Tsune ni itte kyu ni awasu?)

Hi Matthew,

I work in Tokyo branch of British company that has a research institute in Cardiff.
I go on a business trip to Cardiff sometimes in a year.
I hold a video meeting with chemists in Cardiff every week.
Cardiff is one of the city which I love most.

However, I know nothing about an iai dojo in Cardiff.
Follows are dojo, which I searched.
北辰神櫻流 is the ryuha which is not so famous in Japan for an iaido ryuha.

Please excuse me Shikata-san, but New South Wales is a state in Australia.
It's different from the Wales (The Principality of Wales) that is one of the nations of The United Kingdom.

You are right.
Thank you for pointing out my mistake.

Shwmae, Brian!?

Thanks for your help. I've emailed the chap and are awaiting a reply. I don't hold out much hope of finding another ryu class and think I'll probably stay with Bujin Ryu as it's the only iai that I know! :p

Shikata-san, I thank you for looking into this for me also. I'm glad you like Cardiff too. It ain't so bad! :P

Matthew

That's a shame. The mere fact that you are asking for others opinions of Bujin Ryu suggests that you are not completely happy there.

Your confusion about what is bad budo and what is traditional should be able to be cleared up by your own sensei or you should know in yourself if what you are doing is "quality". I would hazard a guess from your posts that you are sceptical.

Akai Ryu looks a very professional and authentic dojo. I know they don't do iai but you would be better doing something authentic and you never know - you may make contacts through the BKA to train with an iai dojo across the border. Have a look...

Life is a bit too short to devote your time to something you're not sure you believe in.

If I remember correctly from my GCSE Welsh, it's the South Walian variant of "Hello, how are you"

But I'm just a Saeson, what do I know! :p

...But I'm just a Saeson, what do I know!
Apparently not that Saeson is plural (Englishmen, English people) and that Sais is singular (Englishman, English person). :p

(I just looked it up. ;) )

Grammatically correct but the people used to call me that were not that good at Grammar!

I didn't mind being called a Saxon.

Chuckle chuckle at you two :p

Shwmae is a pretty informal greeting though, you're right. Just like going up to somebody and saying "Alright?" :)

Anyway... back to iai!

The original poster was specifically looking for something other than the Bujin Ryu. See post #2 above.

But thanks for trying to help, and welcome to E-Budo.
