I am trying to find out more/comfirm information about Kiichi Nakamoto from Okinawa. This is what I know:

He is the President of the Okinawan Weapons Society, "Ryukyu Dento Kobujutsu Hozon Budo Kyokai", and is recognized by the Okinawan and Japanese governments.

He is also an 8th Dan in Goju-Ryu and has several schools in Okinawa and Japan. This is a new start to the Kiichi Nakamoto thread which I recently closed because the discussion went way off course. I am restarting the thread with the original question, less the comments regarding Mr. Carbone.

Please focus ONLY on Mr. Adelman's original question regarding Kiichi Nakamoto. I do not want to have to close another thread.

Mr. Somers:

If I am correct, Ko Uehara Sensei is also a living student of Miyagi Sensei.

Regards,

Andy Morris
Delmar, NY USATo get us started, I'll confirm Andy's statement from the original thread. Ko Uehara Sensei is, based on my research, a student of Miyagi Sensei. He is also one of the few surviving original students of Akamine Eisuke.

PS: If there is no need for this thread, someone let me know and I'll close it as well. I just wanted to bring everyone back to the original discussion.

Uehara sensei is a student of Miyazato eiichi in Goju-ryu, not Miyagi Chojun's stuydent.

Dear Doug, I think it was a good idea to remove unrelated material from this thread. I also think it may be a good idea to close it, given that there does not seem to be any further discussion. Either way, thanks for your attention to this matter. David Lipski

Actually I don't think he removed it, but rather made an entirely new thread.

bump...apologies for the 'old thread' bump...didn't want to start a new one.

It was brought to my attention that Nakamoto Kiichi is teaching a few seminars, and knowing nothing of the style, or teacher, would appreciate any information on either.

Thank you.

What is the name of the bo kata he is doing? At some points there are similar sequences to the Shirotaro no kon that I know (of Shinei Kyan, student of Shosei Kina), but the enbusen is different and there are a lot of moves that aren't the same.

Just curious.

I’m writing just to say that I had the honour and the privilege to meet Kiichi Nakamoto Sensei and he is a respectful and honoured gentleman and a great (one of the biggest) martial arts Sensei. He is a 10º Dan degree Hanshi in karate and kobudo.

He is the president of "Ryukyu Dento Kobujutsu Hozon Budo Kyokai" and President of “WORLD OKINAWAKAN KARATE & KOBUDO ASSOCIATION”

Here is the link to a video where Nakamoto O´Sensei performs a Bo Kata.

One of his best students is Jaime Pereira Sensei, 8ºDan degree in Goju-Ryu Karate (7ºDan by the great Eiichi Miyazato and WKF). Jaime Pereira Sensei is the head of Okinawa Kan Europe and Okinawa Kan Portugal.
