First, please remember to sign your real name to your posts as you agreed to when you joined.

Second, where in Maryland to you live? Also, are you looking mainly for Kendo, or do you prefer Iaido, Shinkendo, etc.? (Have you already practiced a sword art or arts?)

There is going to be a seminar with Manaka Sensei in Baltimore in the spring this year. While we won't be focusing on sword this time (rare for us to miss sword training), there will be a lot of people there you'll want to meet if you're interested in this kind of training.

Also, I know that there are Jinenkan dojo in the area that do quite a bit of sword training. Closest to you are:

Sorry I missed this earlier--we aren't in Maryland, but lots of our members are. I'm with the Capital Area Budokai (http://nvbudokai.org), and we host a kendo group, as well as a Nakamura Ryu class and a Mugai Ryu Iaihyodo study group (affiliated with Ninna-gosoke's Suimokai through the US organization headed by Tony Alvarez). There is also some sword as part of a Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo class--and naginata and kyudo, if you are interested. Each class is actually run as part of its own group under the individual instructors, but I can get you in touch with them if you are interested.

There are other kendo groups in Annapolis, Columbia, and Rockville areas, as was already mentioned, too.

I know we have some folks up in the Silver Springs and Glen Byrnie areas, although most of the training actually takes place in Arlington, VA (so it all depends on just where in Maryland you are.

There is also the Rembukan Dojo in Severna Park. Sensei Rick Polland teaches there and it is by invitation only. For more information, visit http://www.jodo.com or you can PM me and i can provide a phone number for you.

Cheers,

It seems i forgot to post some information. The style of Iaido that Rick teaches there is Muso Shinden Ryu.
