I am wondering if anyone out there can steer me in the direction of books, articles, etc. regarding teaching various martial arts - iaido, jo, bo, etc. - to people who are physically challenged? I have done some research but I was curious if others had exploerd this area.
Thanks.

Hi Dan

Kim Taylor od SDK has a vid on Iai for people with disabilities.

You might want to send him an email for any specific queries, he seems to be a very knowledgeable and upfront gentleman.

All the best

Jason

Beause of a nephew that was born with spina bifida I was working on self defense for the wheelchair bound. I never got around to putting it on paper. He lives two hours away so I just share some things with him when I am in the area. I am willing to share what I have developed if you are interested.

Mitch,

Thanks very much. I would be very interested in seeing/reading what you've worked out. Its good when we can share our love of the martial arts with family members, especially one who otherwise might not be able to learn.

Take care,
