I have had my 3'hanbo & 6'Bo for close to a month now & I am highly impressed with the feel, strength, & durability of these materials. I have no fear in striking anything (short of a M1 battletank) or worrying about it breaking in my hands.

It's takes a little to get used to the weight of it but man oh man, after training with it, normal wooden bo's feel like toothpicks to me now.

Check it out, I'm sure he'ld appreciate any business as these are done by hand!

Bo staff as climbing device! Kewl! Where do I sign up? http://216.10.1.92/ubb/biggrin.gif I know - I'll follow the link...

I think one of those rokushaku bo will be next on my list of additions to the arsenal.

The pics are a testament - thanks for the info...

I give up ! What's it made from ? Or is that a closely guarded secret, steeped in the lore of the ancient ninja ? ;-)

I can't tell what it's made out of. It does have a smooth texture but you can easily clamp down & get a very good hold on it.

I do know that I wouldn't want to get hit with it, that's for sure.

They may be made of Micarta dowel. A resin impregnated fabric material. It is often used for knife handles and industrial bearings. I made a Hanbo out of the 1". You can literally whack through a piece of 1/2" plywood with the thing. Incredible !

I priced 2 different grades of Micarta rods, the cheaper was $6.50/foot, but they have a minimum order of $100. 3 bos would about cover it, for a cost of $39/bo. I suppose there's tax plus shipping and handling. Anyone interested it going in on this with me ?

Gozanryu, any idea which grade of micarta you got for your hanbo ? And where did you find it ?

Mike, I got mine from the local "rid-out plastics" also on the web at www.ecomplastics.com (http://www.ecomplastics.com) in San Diego I think it was less than $40.00. I will check it out and re-post.
P.S. I used the " NEMA LE" grade
