Dear reader,

For a while I've been searching for some good contacts in France and Japan to expand my foreign judokwalities.

My homecountry is the Netherlands.
The plan is to start training in France round about February up to July/ August.
After this Japan is going to be the next destination.

Hopefully you can help me with some answers on my question.

Friendly regards,

Timo

Hi, Timo,
Welcome to E-budo! Please remember to sign your posts with your full name. You may use the signature box in the profile.

To start out, I don't know if you speak/read french, but this is the case with the following:

http://www.ffjudo.com/ . If not, you may want to try Federation Francaise de Judo, or French judo Federation, which is France's national arm of the International Judo federation: http://www.ijf.org . They IJF has listings of judo dojo, or addresses for certain clubs in France. You didn't say where you were going in France, but you should be able to find a club there.

In Japan, the choice would be obvious if you are going to Tokyo, and even if not, they would be able to locate the proper association/dojo in Japan. The website is located at: http://www.kodokan.org . Their contacts are on this website, or you may contact them through the site itself. I would call them, though. The International department is the one which to contact for joining the Kodokan, and they speak English, and also have others who speak foreign languages.

I hope this will get you started. If you do a web search, just enter the words "France" and "judo." You shouldn't have too many problems.

I might add that training at the Kodokan is relatively inexpensive and they offer room and board, also at little expense. You had better get started now to make arrangements, though.
