I think you can take the word "possibly" out of there.

That stunk.

I've commented on this clown before, and have nothing more to add. It's rare that I agree with comments posted on youtube, but in this case they are all spot on.

I can't even describe the feeling I get when I watch that.

It looks like a 10 year old kid acting out ju jutsu after watching it on TV.

Here's a funny thought.......I see a seminar with this guy and Chris Geary......tons o' fun!

From the site above:

Stefano Surace sensei holds the highest official Ju Jitsu grade in the world, recognized in Japan: 10th dan Menkyo-Kaiden, member of Nippon Seibukan.
Seibukan is the official japanese Academy of Martial Arts, the most important worldwide Budo institution, the only one recognized by UNESCO.
Who, of sound mind, would say, "Wow! He's got all there is to offer from my system, he's Kaiden"?!?!

Be well,
Jigme

Have a look at this then:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9OMKUYYGjI

Not only is it more Surace JJ stuff, which is interesting in it's own right, but apparantly its against 3 karateka, the third actually does something, but I can't believe the first 2 are yudansha.

Obviously things are different in those parts!

Wow, there is so much awesomeness going on in this thread. And by awesomeness, I mean ineptitude on a comic level not seen since Prof. Ron hit the scene.

Trevor Johnson
28th September 2006, 21:31
Is it just me, or is Surace awfully up into his shoulders and using a lot more strength than he needs to?

I'll grant I'm not some great expert, but that's what it looks like to me.

Again, it's in French.

If it looks french, and flaps like a duck, and has a cheesy soundtrack, it has to be KI!

And I don't know if that guy can even CUT with a sword, but it doesn't look like it.

Riiiiight!!!!!
I guess that stuff's real.
That's why the military/Police etc train in it??????
What a crock!

MikeWilliams
29th September 2006, 09:38
You know, the Surace fighting style is so comically bad, so downright *weird*, and yet his students seem prepare to mix it up in competition (even if just against each other). Doesn't there come a point when you realise how rubbish you are?

And note Mr. Surace walking around keeping a close eye on all the proceedings. Doesn't there come a point when you realise how rubbish your students are?

It baffles me to the point where I'd actually like to go along to a few classes to see what is being taught.

The wa jutsu ki projection stuff I can kind of understand: there are plenty of credulous, gullible people out there that truly want to believe in magic (no doubt they all wear tinfoil helmets to be each night to ward off astral ninja attacks) - and there's no chance of that stuff ever being tested for real.

But the crap "old style butt-o-kaka" stuff looks like it's actually being pressure tested. I just don't get it.

"old style butt-o-kaka"

That's funny! Thanks for the laugh Mike.
I'd love to have a whack at someone who thinks they can stop me with mind power.
As I mentioned in my above post, why don't their students think "gee, I wonder why the military/police forces don't use this stuff?"?

Take all the warning signs and protective measures away and let Darwin sort 'em out! All of 'em!

I think the wajutsu is a derivative of Hakkoryu.

yoj
5th October 2006, 15:10
Wajutsu is quite clearly a derivative, but, from my experience, there are fundamental things missing from it that would cause it to be comparable. It's similar kata, but it's not the same by a long shot, which maybe is why it's renamed, i dunno.

Just to play the devil's advocate.

Although I generally agree with the comments I read in this post - I do think the video's, especially those with mr, Surace and his pupils are still interesting to watch and to gain some insight from.

best to you all,

G’day Greg and Howard,
It seems that my antisocial behaviour of late has lead to me being totally unaware that there was a seminar virtually within walking distance of my house! I thought it must have been about that time of year but usually I get someone letting me know!
Would have been a nice opportunity to catch up with you guys. Guess that will teach me to keep in touch with what’s going on a bit more.

Greg, I trust that I will see you in January at Peters birthday festivities

I wish I could say that this was the worst Jujitsu I have ever seen but I have actually seen stuff that would rival this in a “Worst Jujitsu Ever” competition, and it is on our own shores! I won’t go into anymore detail on a public forum but next time we find ourselves in the same state I will show you the video! Hahaha

Howard Quick
19th October 2006, 02:41
It's been a while mate!
I was just the other day looking at a pic of you, Hans, John and myself at a seminar a couple of years ago.
Shame you weren't able to make it last weekend. It was a great seminar.
130 people on Sat and 93 on Sun.
Maybe next year huh?
Bring that video bud, I'll bring some of mine and we'll set up our own bad budo night!

Dale
19th October 2006, 10:44
Hahaha,
Sounds like a whole lot of fun Howard, will definately be up for that!

Yeah I will definately have my ear to the ground in the lead-up to October 2007 so I don't miss it again!

Dale
19th October 2006, 10:50
Oh, and I wouldn't mind a digital copy of that photo if you have one?
Actually I wouldn't mind a copy of any photos that I am in. I know there are all kinds of photos of me being beaten up floating around the globe but I don't have copies of any of them! In fact the last photo I have of me doing Jujitsu I was 15 years old and have a mean looking mullet!

One of my students spotted my leg in an AJJA advertsiment in a Blitz magazine apparently hahaha!

Hi Dale

I was looking for you over the weekend and I did mention that you were in Sydney to a guy who used to train with Paul and Maggie.

I guess it is Peter's 50th next year so if I am invited (and I had better be) I will see you then. Do bring said video.

Greg

As the honourary 5th member of the Clarke family I personally invite you myself!

I will bring the video and we can chat about Swedish Jujitsu!

Looking foreward to it already!

3rd November 2006, 07:54
G'day Howard,
Sorry about the lateness in reply, I have been really busy this week!

The reference to Swedish Jujitsu is cos I was in Sweden earlier this year with Peter and everywhere we went they were talking about Greg, who was there a few months earlier!

Nothing to do with the topic of this discussion... actually the swedes were really nice and we made some great friends over there! Probably shouldn't have said it in this thread hahaha!

Oh and there are some great Jujitsu practitioners there too!

Keikai
5th November 2006, 07:56
Thank you Dale for the invite.

I look forward to your views and the videos of the Swedish Ju Jutsu. There are some good ju jutuska there and they are very nice people.

Take care

Greg

The video in question is of some Aussie Jujistu practitioners, which certainly fits in this thread!

Got some nice photos of our sweden seminar though!

See you in January!

G'day Howard,
about "Possibly the worst Jujutsu ever!!! " Well I have to tell you that I had a great laugh and watched it quit a few times and laughed harder every time. Thanks for that.

Later I showed my wife and she said that maybe the guy has had a stroke or something.

So I thought of some different possibilities. Now I wonder if the poor guy has had a stroke and was really a 10th Dan and just out or respect for him the other guy in the video is just going along with it so as not to embarrass him.

He looks like he did know some kind of JuJutsu once but, what is in his mind and what his body is doing is very different.

I don't really want to believe that some one is not only that bad but also is teaching.
What do you think?
Cheers

8th November 2006, 13:56
Looking at the other SURACE JU JUTSU clips on YOU TUBE it seems that what one sees in the clip you provides is pretty much what that style has to offer.
Its nothing I would be interested in, but apparently there are folks who think its their cuppa, yes? Just one Seppo's opinion.

Best Wishes,

Bruce

G'day Bruce,
I did the same thing hehehe! I had to look around to see if it was a one off or if it was consistant and, as you said, they are all pretty much the same.

Must be at least a few people who like this type of thing, or perhaps the are all in on the same practical joke? Or maybe we are trying too hard to make excuses for this guy hahaha!
