Im new here and dont much about terminologies of various systems.
I just wanted to know more and learn more about various systems.

The term "Goshin Jiu Jitsu" or "Goshin" Is it an art or a lineage specifically?
Is it a loose generic term to describe self defense?

I just am doing research would like to know the validity of the term.
I see it casually used.

Can some one shed some light on its usage?
How the term could be used erroneously?

Goshin generally means self-defense. I have usually seen it applied to modern styles (I'm not saying that they aren't decent practices though.) There is a "goshinjutsu" kata in the Kodokan Judo, but that's all I know about more traditional jujutsu lineages and the goshin label.
