I’m very happy, that information vacuum which existed earlier, is going to end. Some new videos appeared, some videos will appear soon. And I’m glad to say that sensei Frank Pelny (hombukai trainer of European branch of Ryukyu Kobudo Tesshinkan Kyokai$ Germany) just released his book entitled “Ryukyu Kobudo Tesshinkan. Die traditionelle Waffenkunst von Okinawa”. It's not a «studying book”. It’s a very nice information for people, who have studied Ryukyu Kobudo. I think, it’s very interesting. It covers info from very beginning to 3 dan.

Very nice book.Easy to understand,The commands and stances are written out in the Japanese pronounciation(not kanji but in the english format). They are given just as Tamayose sensei would give them if he were calling them out.I do not see where a english translation would be of benefit Tamayose sensei calls almost all commands in Japanese, he can speak pretty good English but is not comfortable with it.And the diagrams of the kata are easy to follow, if you were taught them by Tamayose sensei. When I get a little extra time I will see what I can do with a online translator and some of the german text in the book.I suspect most of the german has to do with Mr.Pelny's interpretations of variations of applications or possibilities. I recommend the book to all Tesshinkan members. Tom Hodges

The book is very-very good. So, I will try in near future to organize a translation from German language to Russian. And, I think, Frank Pelny will make a translation to English soon. I will discuss this question with him week later.
This facts are interesting, because I have never seen any book about Ryukyu Kobudo of Akamine and Akamine-Tamayose lines.

I am not so sure an english translation would be a good idea. Most of the information is on the Tesshinkan web sites. If someone wants to understand the book better they should learn the terminology that the style is taught in.The only person in the Tesshikan that can promote to the yudansha levels is Tamayose sensei.I think you should know the commands in the language it is given at testing.I do not speak Japanese but I do pay attension to sensei's commands and ask the necessary questions to make sure I know what he is talking about.I have no problem using the book as it is written, and I do not read or speak German.I think an English translation may be even more difficult to follow.Mr.Pelny and Tamayose sensei sat down together to compare the information in Mr. Pelny's book with the information in Akamine sensei's reference book that was given to Tamayose sensei.I would rather see the book kept as was authorized by Tamayose sensei. I look Internet somtimes and I can't say, that there are a lot of info. Of course, is better to communicate Tamayose as a center of this information. But this book was very helpful to me even in my traning and, of course, as reference book. So, I will try to make a russian translation, even if result of this process will not be interesting to many people. It will be interesting to me :) . I don't speak about printing many copies for sail. Just about help for me... And, probably, if people in Russia will practise Tesshinkan, for others later.

Yes, it will be interesting to me too... But when and where we can see it? I saw referense book from Akamine in Tamayose's hands. But I (1) don't know japaneese, (2) nobody knows if this text will be published and (3) there aren't pictures :) .
I'm interested in any Ryukyu Kobudo texts, but I don't know about published issues.

Why wouldn't it be a good idea? I don't read or speak German. Getting a book then trying to decipher it's contents by looking at a website is ridiculous imo. The book would be useless to me although I would be interested in buying it. Plus if it was available in English you may have a more positive response in its purchase.

It is a wonderful book.As I said I do not read or speak german either. But I can read the commands as Tamayose sensei gives them in Japanese, and I can follow the graphs on the kata.Mr. Pelny did a very good job on this book.If you have trouble following this book you should arrange to train with Tamayose sensei. He will be in Germany for two months this year May-June and in Canada for two to three weeks this August.A translation of this book to english would allow opportunity for missuse,it should not be used to learn from but only for reference. And there are way too many charlatans in the western culture that would use the book to make false claims just to make a buck. If you cannot understand this book you are not ready for the information contained in it.Those that should have this book can already understand it. Tom Hodges

And I'm going to take parts in seminar in Germany. :)

What do you mean?

If you cannot understand this book you are not ready for the information contained in it.
Yes, mechanics of Ryukyu kobudo and dymanics impossible (or very difficult) to describe in any printing material.
